PeaPodZ™ is a privately-owned, New Jersey-based company. I am a teacher of learning disabled children, so children have long been important in my life.
When I was a young girl, I always wanted to create something that had never been invented. I was often coming up with new ideas that I knew "everyone" would want and just could not find where to buy it. I would have these great ideas but something would always pop up and I would get sidetracked. Life events such as college, marriage, kids at home, kids at my job and then finally, a divorce, kept me from pursuing all the ideas I had through the years.
My children are now grown so I thought this was the time for me to follow one of my own dreams…finally!
Several years ago I went with my sister to a plastic surgeon where she elected to have cosmetic eye surgery. While she had her outpatient treatment, I walked around the quaint village shopping in the unique antique shops. When I returned to get her in a few hours, she was in front of the office looking very much in pain and her face was very swollen and purple. All the way home, my eyes welled up with tears each time I looked at her face. I did not want her to think that she looked horrible, so I kept my thoughts to myself. I then asked her how she was going to reduce the swelling, knowing most ice packs are big, stiff and bulky, and she replied "peas." She then asked me if I could stop at the local supermarket for them. I said "sure" and couldn't help but ask, "peas?" She said the doctor had recommended her using a bag of frozen peas. This was the first time I had ever heard of frozen peas for swelling. My mind began to whirl.
We bought the peas and she made small packets to use on her eyes. Since we had a wedding to attend in California only three days away, I was worried that the swelling wouldn't abate in time. She used the peas and the swelling did, indeed, go down. I noticed that the peas were light and formed comfortably to her eyes; they covered only her eye area without covering her entire face. The only problem I could see was the leaking of green ooze down her face onto the sofa when they began to thaw and melt entirely. Re-use was also difficult because the peas became too mushy and did not freeze the same way. I liked the idea they only covered the affected area, not her whole face.
After that day, I began to think about peas quite a lot, and then I started to extensively research the use of peas on swelling. As I researched, I questioned just about everyone I knew about the topic. I found a great engineer, Lenny Fratiag, in San Diego, great product graphics from my relatives, Jason and Lyle Briggs and Angie Mason, and many others. I learned about the efficacy of what happens when you can fully localize cold to an area of the body, sans the bulk and weight. The results were undeniable.
By the way, we went to the wedding and my sister looked terrific! The swelling was gone.
As a result of that day,
PeaPodZ™ was born three years later. Please try them next time you need "Swell Satisfaction." I promise you will experience rapid, natural relief from pain.
